Step 1: Prep your eyelids
- Use an eyeshadow primer to create a smooth base for your makeup and help the colors last longer and appear more vibrant.
- Apply a neutral matte base shade over your entire eyelid with a fluffy brush, sweeping it all the way up to your brow bone. This will help with seamless blending.
Step 2: Define your crease
- Select a medium or dark matte shade and apply it to the crease of your eyelid using a tapered brush.
- Blend the shade in a semi-circular, back-and-forth motion to add depth and dimension to your eyes. Keep blending until the color looks soft and diffused.
Step 3: Add shimmer and dimension
- Apply a shimmer, metallic, or glitter shade to the center of your eyelid with your fingertip or a flat eyeshadow brush.
- For more intense color payoff, spray your brush with a setting spray before picking up the shimmer shade.
- Tap and pat the color onto your lid rather than sweeping it to prevent fallout and maximize the pigment.
Step 4: Highlight and brighten
- Use a lighter, luminous shade to highlight the inner corners of your eyes and under your brow bone.
- Apply it with a small, precise brush to create a bright, eye-opening effect.
Step 5: Finish the look
- Blend again to soften any harsh lines and ensure all shades transition seamlessly into one another.
- Add eyeliner and mascara to complete your eye makeup look.
